Cloud Solutions
What is Cloud Computing?
Cloud computing is Internet (“cloud”) based development and use of computer technology. It is a style of computing in which IT-related capabilities are provided “as a service”. This allows users to access technology-enabled services from the Internet (“in the cloud”) without knowledge of, expertise with, or control over the technology infrastructure that supports them.
Is Cloud Computing new?
Not really, it has been around for a while. Like all things in IT, the concept has had several names but the general concept has been around almost as long as we have had internet applications.
Is Cloud Computing the same as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)?
You might say software-as-a-service kicked off the whole push toward cloud computing by demonstrating that IT services could be easily made available over the Web. While SaaS vendors originally did not use the word cloud to describe their offerings, analysts now consider SaaS to be one of several subsets of the cloud computing market.
What types of services are available via the Cloud Computing model?
Public cloud services are breaking down into three broad categories: software-as-a-service, infrastructure-as-a-service, and platform-as-a-service. SaaS is well known and consists of software applications delivered over the Web. Infrastructure-as-a-service refers to remotely accessible server and storage capacity, while platform-as-a-service is a compute-and-software platform that lets developers build and deploy Web applications on a hosted infrastructure.
Why would a small / medium business want to migrate to a cloud solution?
Most small businesses do not have the time, expertise or money necessary to buy, deploy and manage the computing infrastructure needed to run dedicated IT solutions on their own. Cloud computing shields you from these complexities. As a user, you see only the self-service interface to the computing resources you need. Often times, you can expand or shrink services as your business needs evolve.
SEO
What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
SEO is a set of specialized techniques that are used to optimize your website so that your website is search engine “friendly.” SEO increases your chances of placing well in search results – therefore increasing your chances of getting more people to visit your website.
What is the difference between “Ethical”, “White Hat” and “Black Hat” SEO?
Ethical” and “White Hat” SEO follow guidelines and accepted/agreed upon standards to optimize a website. This means they do not use tricks that are sometime employed by “Black Hat” practitioners. The final result of “Ethical” and “White Hat” SEO is frequently a much stronger positioning which lasts longer and can withstand frequent changes made to search engine algorithms. “Black Hat” uses SEO strategies that can possibly result in faster rankings, but most often are not long lived and hurt your future success. Some “Black Hat” techniques can even result in a severe penalty, up to being permanently banned by some major search engines and directories.
What is “Organic” or “Natural” SEO?
Organic” and “Natural” SEO placement in search engine results (SERPs) means that the website naturally displays well in search results with no need for paid inclusions, pay per click (PPC) advertising, or sneaky tricks often employed by “Black Hat” SEO practitioners in an attempt to fool the search engines. A site that has good “Organic” placement is likely to be more stable in its long term search engine positions, with less likelihood of position changes due to new algorithms, frequently applied by Google, Bing and Yahoo. We always strive for strong organic placement.
What’s the importance of proper keyword research for SEO?
The keyword research stage will have the biggest impact on the amount of increased website traffic you experience. You have to know what the public is searching for and how they are searching in order to capitalize on potential traffic. In depth keyword phrase expansion and analysis should always be at the forefront of any successful SEO campaign. From the beginning, we work with you to make sure we find keywords that are most profitable, get the highest amount of monthly searches, and are least competitive. This ensures a recipe for your SEO success.
How can my website achieve top 10 results?
- Make sure your website is designed with being “search engine friendly” in mind;
- Avoid flash websites because they cannot be read by search engines;
- Perform extensive keyword phrase research and analysis and include your final keywords into your content;
- Build as many back links (inbound links) to your website as possible to help build Page Rank (PR); and
- Never employ deceitful (black hat) techniques to fool search engines and visitors.
Or, you can simply let us get your website to the top of the search engines because it is what we do every day. Contact us today!
Is text important on my website?
Yes, absolutely. There is a common phrase in the SEO world: “content is king.” Search engines love seeing lots of relevant content on every page of your website. When a page simply contains one or two videos with no text on the page the search engines come and go without taking the content of the video into consideration. However, when a search engine sees a lot of text they read it and then they know where to rank you for based on your keyword usage.
Do search engines still use meta tags?
SEO’s are in disagreement on which meta tags are used by which engines and how much weight the engines place on meta tags. The best advice we can provide is to always include meta tags, but do not abuse them by attempting to stuff them full of keywords not present on the page. There is never any harm in including well formed, relevant meta tags.
Are your SEO services included in your Web Design service scope?
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) setup/configuration is included in every website we design but recurring maintenance and optimization services (if required) are charged monthly.
